Tour Programme
Your daily Itinerary:
Thursday, Arrival Day
Arrivo in Italy, after your flight we welcome you to your Italian vacanza in bicicletta. We then load up the Bespoke Velo bus and relocate to Bormio. When everyone is rested and freshened up, our mechanic will be there to tend to the job of helping you assemble your bike, depending on the arrival times, we may have time to go for a ride.
Friday, GPM Stelvio, 105k, 3,100m
Today there is no more waiting, it's here, GPM Stelvio.
We start the day leaving our base in Bormio and make our way up the Stelvio, no warm up, it's straight into the 21km climb, but 3km from the GPM Stelvio we veer left and venture into Switzerland and descend the Umbrail Pass. From here it's mainly descending and flattish cycling until we get to Prato Stelvio. Here we stop for a coffee and re-fuel before climbing the Classic Stelvio Climb. From Prato it's 24km of 48 hairpin bends, forested to start then we see the climb open up in front.
Back in Bormio we have cycled 105km and 3,100m climbing
Saturday, St Moritz,
Today we ride down the valley from Bormio to Tirano where we take a different type of journey to St Moritz. Once we take a look around this ski paradise it's on the bikes this time and ride up over the pass back into Bormio. The options of which way we head back to Bormio we will discuss on Friday evening.
Sunday, Mortirolo and The Gavia, 110k and 3,100m
Today is another epic, we get to ride another two of Giro D'Italia Iconic climbs. We again head down the valley towards Tirano, but this time it's no train but a left hand turn onto the Mortirolo, Starting in Mazzo di Valtellina, it's 12.4k long with an average gradient of 10.5% with a max gradient of 18% with a height gain of 1,300m. Then a descent down to Ponte Legno before our next challenge, The Gavia. It's a gradual climb for around 4k then the road narrows and suddenly it's 16%, the 18k climb never gets much below 10%, with lots of switcbacks, steeper grades. Once over the Top it's a descent all the way back into Bormio.
